Event Overview

BioBlitz 2012_0265BioBlitz is a fun-filled family event not to be missed! Explore nature through hikes, hands-on activities and live animal presentations.

  • See live birds of prey
  • Net butterflies
  • Prowl for plants
  • See live animals up close and personal,
    including bird banding
  • See live bats
  • Experience electrofishing in the Pine & Chippewa Rivers
  • Prowl for owls
  • Search for mussels in the river

Venture out and celebrate nature at BioBlitz! See live birds of prey, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and fish up close. Explore the outdoors with scientists and naturalists while getting your hands on nature. Discover the region’s biodiversity as we investigate the rivers, ponds, forests and fields of Chippewa Nature Center. People of all ages will find something of interest in the variety of programs including hikes, live animal programs, kids’ discovery stations and an indoor lab. Learn about scientific survey techniques and try your hand using aerial nets, dippers, aquatic nets, binoculars or bug boxes.

Be sure to visit Little Forks Conservancy, Saginaw Basin Land Conservancy and Saginaw Valley State University in the River Overlook inside the Visitor Center!
