So you learned how to spin your own yarn – now what? Accomplished spinners and Homestead volunteers, Sue Erhardt and Andera Foster will take you through the next steps in spinning your own yarn. The class will cover plying, skeining, and finishing your yarn prior to using it. You’ll also learn how to measure how much yarn you’ve made and how to estimate what it can be used for. You’ll also have an opportunity to play with different grades of wool to help understand how they behave and the ways they can be used. Participants will need to bring their own working spinning wheel or spindle (your choice), some of your own spun yarn (single stranded) and a spiral notebook. Be sure to wear clothes you don’t mind getting wet. We’ll supply several handouts, wool wash, 1 oz. each of three different types of wool fleeces and a niddy-noddy.
