BLACKSMITH COPPER

    This coin is what is known as a "Blacksmith Copper."  These are counterfeit coins that were reputedly made by Blacksmiths in Canada in the years between 1820 and 1840.  The designs are based on English and Irish halfpennies.  The obverse shows a bust facing left and the reverse has a harp.
