Subject: Naugle Site - August 4, 2007
Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,
Marianne, Becky, Nik, Diane W., and I made it out to the Naugle site on Saturday
and excavated six units. We worked on 13S-32E, 13S-33E, 14S-33E, 13S-34E,
14S-34E, 13S-35E, and 14S-35E. We are finding some flakes and fire cracked rock
in low densities. We did not find any pottery this week. Diane found a hafted
knife with alternate beveling on the blade (see
Photo 1 and Photo 2). It came from unit
14S-34E, 26-32 cm (the first 5 cm below the plow zone).
Tomorrow (Wednesday), we will probably be washing 1/8” screen bags in the RB
parking lot. We finished washing level bags last Wednesday. On Saturday, we will
plan on excavating at the Naugle site.
Hope to see you at the site.
Scott
