Subject: Sias East Site - August 22, 2009

Hi Oxbow Archaoeologists,

Marianne, Nik, Becky and I made it out to the site on Saturday.

In the morning we excavated the 15-20 cm and 20-25 cm levels of 2S-98W. The 15-20 cm level was the bottom of the plow zone and contained a few more cordmarked bodysherds as well as flakes. The 20-25 cm level had a lower density of material with several flakes and bone fragments.

In the afternoon, I excavated units 1S-112W, 70-80 cm and 2S-112W, 75-85 cm. These levels were sterile and are below the Middle Woodland occupation.

We will plan on excavating at Sias East on Saturday (if it rains we'll be at the Resource Building).

Hope to see you at the site.

Scott
