Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

It’s been a couple weeks since I’ve sent out an update.

A week ago on Saturday (July 21) we had our faunal workshop with Terry Martin and Chris Richmond. We had a good turnout with Oxbow regulars Dave, Diane W., Kevin, Marianne, Greg, Lia, Diana J., and Nik coming out as well as Don Simons and Ken Kosidlo from the Saginaw Chapter and Barb Mead from the Office of the State Archaeologist. We identified bones from Cater East (20MD534). Among the more interesting things identified were a pair of otter teeth (see Photo 1 and Photo 2).

Yesterday, Kevin, Diane W., and I made it out to the Naugle site. We finished units 13S-37E and 14S-37E and excavated units 13S-35E, 13S-36E, and 14S-36E. We recovered flakes, small sherds of pottery, and fire cracked rock. No tools or features were found.

This week we will plan on excavating at the Naugle site on both Wednesday and Saturday.

Hope to see you at the site!

Scott
