Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

We made it out to the site on Saturday and had a good day excavating. Marianne, Nik, Kevin, and I came out.

Marianne and I started the morning by taking elevations of all the grid points in the 110 West Block at 30 cm below the surface. Then we all began excavating the 30-35 cm level of the units in the west part of the block (see Map). Units 1S-112W and 2S-112W had several flakes and bone fragments. Units 1N-112W and 4S-112W were quiet low density with only a few flakes and bone fragments. We recovered one biface fragment in unit 2S-112W (see Photo 1). At 35 cm we encountered the top of our B1 unit (yellowish brown silt - mottled with some patches of dark grayish-brown silt at 35 cm).

The plan for the next several weeks is to take the west 2x6 m of the block down -- we'll excavate the rest of the block latter in the season or next year, depending on what we find deeper.

On Wednesday we'll plan on working at the Resource Building -- washing 1/8" screen bags and processing flotation samples. Next Saturday we'll return to the site.

Hope to see you at the site.

Scott
