Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

Just a quick note – we didn’t find much this weekend. Marianne and I continued excavating the 60 West test trench yesterday. We took the deep units (60West, 60W-South, and 60W-South2) deeper – generally from 120 cm to 150 cm. We didn’t find any cultural material – just snail shell and pebbles. At 150 cm I encountered the sand layer that was above the deepest A-horizon in the 85 west trench.

In the afternoon I started shooting in a base line for a grid. Next Saturday we’ll probably start a small excavation at 45 west and go through the second A-horizon. We’ll also try to finish excavating the 60 West trench. On Wednesday we’ll plan on doing lab work at the Resource Building.

Hope to see you at the site.

Scott
