Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,

Marianne, Kevin and I made it out to the site Saturday.  All of the rain Thursday and Friday left the low area of the field flooded but we were able to make it out to the site without too much trouble (see Photo 1).  In the morning we excavated the plow zone (0-20 cm level) of unit 3S-102W.  We found the usual flakes, bone fragments, and F.C.R.  Marianne and Kevin found a relatively large bodysherd with striated interior (see Photo 2).  In the afternoon, I began to excavate the 40-45 cm level of unit 0S-112W on the west edge of the 110 West Block, but the unit was a little too wet to screen due to the old plastic covering it.  I ended up excavating the plow zone (0-20 cm level) of units 2S-99W and 3S-101W (see Map).  A few flakes, bone fragments and fire-cracked rock were recovered.

This Wednesday we will meet at the Resource Building.  I should be there by early or mid-afternoon and will try to get the flotation and 1/8" screen washing barrels set up.  Next Saturday we will plan on excavating at Sias East.

Hope to see you at the site.

Scott
