Hi Oxbow Archaeologists,
As you can probably imagine we didn’t make to the site on Wednesday or Saturday
because of the rain. We spent both days in the RB doing lab work. We managed to
wash the levels bags that we have excavated so far this season (and sort Ponton
1/8” screen bags). I spent a lot of Saturday putting together rimsherds from
Vessel 2 (see VESSEL 2.jpg). In the washed level bags there was also a small
rimsherd from a new vessel (see VESSEL 3 – 1S-112W.jpg) and a rimsherd from
Vessel 1 (see VESSEL 1 – 2S-11W.jpg). I’ll post additional pictures on the Sias
East Artifact page of the website (20MD263
ARTIFACTS).
I did go over to check on the site Saturday afternoon and found it quiet wet
(see 20MD263 5-13-06.jpg). The road to the site was beginning to flood and it
may be difficult to site with all the additional rain. So…
This Wednesday we’ll be in the RB doing lab work. It should stop raining
tomorrow and we’ll try to get out to the site on Saturday.
Hope to see you at the site.
Scott
